CUSTOMS AUDIT, RISK MANAGEMENT AND TRAINING

Customs Audit and Risk Management
The Customs Consultancy is often asked to assist companies that are the subject of an inspection by customs. Any business importing goods into the European Union will at some time be selected for a customs audit. In our experiance, businesses will look to partner with a duty specialist to support them through this process. This is especially true when irregularities are identified. In such circumstances, we seek to minimise any adverse impact on our clients.

Although we are well placed to manage the fallout from an audit, we prefer to work proactively with our clients to ensure that they have nothing to fear from an inspection. Having trained as customs audit officers, we are able to apply the same methodology as that used by customs, resulting in our clients being one step ahead. The emphasis is on compliance - together we can ensure that errors are corrected before any can be identified during the course of a customs audit.

We offer an inexpensive retained non-intrusive audit service aimed at ensuring that our clients are fully compliant with the requirements of customs legislation. In particular, we seek to ensure accuracy of the following:

  • Classification.
  • Valuation.
  • Preference / Origin.
  • Regime Management - duty reliefs, customs warehousing, etc.
  • Management of Records.

Our clients take great comfort in knowing that, should they be the subject of an inspection by the authorities, they have already taken steps to ensure that errors have been avoided and are confident about the integrity of their records.

Bespoke Training
It is our belief that every business is individual and every logistics team has specific requirements. It is for this reason that any training provided by The Customs Consultancy is tailored to the needs of that business.

We offer bespoke classification training programs. The training agenda provides a logical explanation of how to classify goods, starting at the construction of the Tariff and ending with specific guidance regarding your products.
